NGA Solicitors – Our firm’s history

NGA Solicitors was formed in 2003 following the restructuring of Nolan Grice.

Previously, Nolan Grice was formed in 2000 following the merger of two local law firms, Nolan Pickles and Smith in Colne, and Grice and Ireland in Burnley.

NGA Solicitors currently comprises of two partners and employs over 20 members of staff in our offices in Burnley and Colne. Many of our staff members are from the surrounding area and continue to reside locally.

Our Burnley office is ideally located on Parker Lane just across the road from the Police Station and the Magistrates Court. Our Colne office is centrally located on Albert Road.

    Anthony J Allen
    Solicitor / Partner

    Anthony is the head of our firm’s Civil Litigation, Personal Injury, and Clinical Negligence Department as well as the management side of the firm.

    Anthony has been a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX) since 1994, before qualifying as a solicitor in 1998.

    Geoffrey F Ireland
    Solicitor / Partner

    Geoffrey is the head of our firm’s Crime and Family Departments.

    Geoffrey qualified as a solicitors in 1979

    Stephen Brown
    Solicitor / Consultant

    Stephen is a consultant solicitor with a wealth of experience in Private Client matters including Residential Conveyancing, Commercial Conveyancing, Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, and Probate.

    Stephen qualified as a solicitor in 1976 and was previously a partner alongside Anthony and Geoffrey in Nolan Grice.

    Nicola J Barker
    Solicitor

    Nicola works in our Civil Litigation, Personal Injury, and Clinical Negligence Departments.

    Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 1995.

    Andrew J Smith
    Solicitor

    Andrew is the head of our firm’s Residential and Commercial Conveyancing Departments. He handles private and commercial sales, purchases and leases or property.

    Andrew was admitted as a solicitor in 2013.  

    Dawn V Walmsley
    Solicitor

    Dawn deals with Private Client matters which include Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney, Probate, Residential Conveyancing, and Commercial Conveyancing.

    Dawn qualified as a solicitor in 2004.

    Elizabeth Bates
    Solicitor

    Elizabeth deals with Family Law matters.

    Elizabeth qualified as a solicitor in 2012.
